Australia Miyake Kai started in 2012. They provide Taiko drumming performances and demonstrations at festivals and events in Melbourne. They also provide workshops for people who want to learn Taiko in Melbourne. You may recognise this group from our 2017 Christmas party event in Box Hill. Australia Miyake Kai performed live for our students along with the Melbo-ren Awa Odori dancers providing a fantastic Japanese cultural experience.

Australia Miyake Kai regularly runs practice sessions in Collingwood. Their address is corner Cromwell St and McCutcheon Way, Collingwood College.

Wadaiko Rindo was established in 1994. Their dynamic performances are well know throughout Australia. Wadaiko Rindo provides weekly Taiko classes in Melbourne. They also provide school demonstrations, workshops and performances for festivals and corporate events.

Wadaiko Rindo has grown to a Taiko drumming school of over 130 active students with over a dozen of weekly classes running each week.

I have always wanted to learn Japanese because of my love of this country, the people and their culture. Edit 2019: It’s been over two years now and I still adore everyone at Japanese Tutor Melbourne! I feel like I have come so far and know that the wonderful teachers will continue to support and encourage me as I learn more. Fast-paced, informative and engaging, my experience at Japanese Tutor Melbourne has been a pleasant one. My teacher Miyuki-sensei worked tirelessly to keep the group sessions running smoothly, answering any queries my classmates or myself had with patience and kindness, and encouraging us to further better our skills. Fantastic teaching quality! In just a few months I feel my Japanese has improved 10 fold. Each class is structured in a way that keeps the interest in the content high while also allowing time for students to go over tough concepts and ask plenty of questions. After 2 failed attempts to learn Japanese I found Japanese Tutor Melbourne in Nunawading and haven't looked back since. As a beginer all of the teachers have been extremely helpful, encouraging and supportive. The fact that in this early stage of my learning, the concepts, reasons and structure are explained in english has made easier for me to make sense of the language. I cannot praise the teachers, Miyuki sensei, Kei sensei, Yasuko sensei and Yumiko sensei enough. They have taught, shown, guided, encouraged and teased out of me a language I desperately wanted to learn but never thought I could. While I have an enormous way to go I can see and hear Japanese coming from me, who would have thought? The classes are sometimes hard work, but alway fun and enjoyable. They have become the highlight of my week. The environment feels safe, the class size is small and all of my fellow students are fun to be with and are great people. While not as important as the teaching, the school is in a great location with ample car parking and less than a minutes walk from the bus and train stations. If you ever wanted to learn Japanese, this is the place to go.read more

I had previously learnt Japanese at high school a while ago, and had been recently working on my Japanese language skills through self-learning. However, my listening and conversational skills were lacking. Within a few days of contacting Japanese Tutor Melbourne Pty Ltd, I attended a level check test with one of the teachers and was graded on my Japanese level. I then attended some one-on-one catch-up classes to bring me up to speed and have now joined a group class who are at the same level. The classes are fantastic as they are small, friendly, and all aspects of Japanese (reading, writing, listening, speaking) are taught. It is a non-judgmental place where everyone is encouraged to have a go, and sufficient material (both in class and homework) are provided. I was apprehensive to attend at first as I don't live close to Nunawading, but I am glad that I decided to give them a go. The Best Japanese class in town!!!! I was a bit hesitant to join at the start but after a few lessons I was totally wrong. The teachers were amazing and Vaughan has been very understanding and accommodating towards me with my work and often needing to have catch up lessons . He never once said no.
