東京パート２　上野、秋葉原、浅草

上野　Ueno 

上野は美術館や博物館、パンダのいる動物園が有名です。春は上野恩賜（おんし）公園の桜がきれいですよ。たくさんの人（特にサラリーマン）がお酒を飲んだり、カラオケをしたり、とてもにぎやかになります。

Ueno is famous for art museums, the National Museum and the zoo which has Panda bears. In spring, the cherry blossoms are beautiful in Ueno Onshi park. Many people (especially office workers) drink alcohol and enjoy Karaoke there so the park becomes a bustling place.

御徒町方面へ歩くとアメ横商店街に出ます。ここでは食べ物やファッションアイテムなどいろいろな物を買うことできます。歩くだけでも楽しい、ビクトリアマーケットを思わせる通りです。あ、値引きやおまけをくれるお店もありますから、店では笑顔を忘れずに。年末はお正月の買い物をする人で大混雑しますよ。

If you walk in the direction of Okachimachi, you will get to Ameyoko shopping street. You can buy various things such as food and fashion items. Just walking there is fun. It reminds me of Victoria market. Oh, some shops give you discount or free gifts so don’t forget to smile in the shops. At the end of the year, the street becomes super busy for the people who do New Year shopping.

秋葉原

駅前の大通りには電気屋さんがたくさん並んでいます。最新の電化製品や電子機器がとても安いです。また、コスプレとメイドカフェの発祥地としても知られ、さらにアニメやコミック、アイドルグッズのお店も多いので、“オタクの聖地”と呼ばれています。メイドカフェではミニスカートとエプロンを着たウェイトレスが“おかえりなさいませ、ご主人様”とあいさつしてくれる不思議な世界を味わえますよ。秋葉原のシンボルであるヨドバシマルチメディアAkibaには、なぜかゴルフ練習場とバッティングセンターがあって運動もできます。私のおすすめはCHABARAです。全国各地の“うまいもん”を寄せ集めたスポットで、購入はもちろん試食もできますよ。

Akihabara

So many electric appliance stores are lined up on the main street in front of the station. The latest appliances and electronic devices are very cheap. Akihabara is known as the birthplace of cosplay. Maid cafes, Japanese animation shops, comic shops and Japanese idols are there too.

Akihabara is called “Geek Mecca”. In maid cafes, you can experience the strange world of waitresses in miniskirts and aprons who greet you “Welcome back, my master”. For some reason, Yodobashi Multimedia has a golf practice range and batting cage so you can do physical exercise there too. My recommendation is CHABARA. It’s the spot where gourmet foods are selected from all over Japan and you can purchase and taste them as well.

浅草

浅草は外国人にとても人気の観光スポットです。すでに知っているかもしれませんが、大きくて赤い提灯がシンボルの浅草寺が有名です。仲見世など浅草寺内の商店街はもちろん、周辺は昔懐かしい下町の雰囲気に包まれていてとても楽しいですよ。若いお兄さんが走り回って町案内してくれる人力車も利用できます。隅田川の反対側にはスカイツリーがあります。自立式電波塔として世界一高いタワーですよ。正直、私はスカイツリーより東京タワーのほうが好きです。なぜなら東京タワーはゴジラ映画に出てくるし、とても馴染みがあるからです。隅田川周辺では、春は桜、夏は隅田川花火大会や屋形船が楽しめます。私は昔、もんじゃ焼きを食べながらクルーズする屋形船に乗りました。動くBBQ船、とてもおもしろかったですよ。

Asakusa

Asakusa is a very popular tourist destination among foreigners. As you might already know, Sensooji temple which has the symbolic big red lantern is famous. Not only Nakamise street in Sensooji but also the vicinity is filled with the old town atmosphere so it’s very enjoyable.

Rickshaw transport services are available to run you around the local hot spots. In the other side of the Sumida river, there is Skytree tower. It’s the world’s tallest tower as a free-standing broadcasting tower. To be honest I prefer Tokyo tower to Skytree because Tokyo tower is in the Godzilla movie and very familiar to me.

In the vicinity of Sumida river, you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, Sumida river fireworks festival and roofed pleasure boats in summer. I’ve been on the roofed pleasure boats before which are cruises offering monjayaki. The moving BBQ was lots of fun.
